Aspiring clarinetist Noémi Sallai is pursuing her Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School, studying with Jon Manasse. Ms. Sallai is a recipient of the Irene Diamond Scholarship. Having completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Bard College, studying with Laura Flax, David Krakauer and Anthony McGill, Ms. Sallai is a passionate interpreter of orchestral music, chamber music and solo repertoire. At the Juilliard School she is currently engaged in the Juilliard Orchestra, the New Juilliard Ensemble and the Axiom Ensemble conducted by Jeffrey Milarsky. Playing all positions in the Bard Conservatory Orchestra during her undergraduate studies, she took part in three major orchestra tours to China, to several cities in Europe and to Cuba. In 2014, at the peak of her studies at Bard College, Ms. Sallai won the Concerto Competition, and was featured as a soloist performing Carl Nielsen`s Clarinet Concerto with the Bard Conservatory Orchestra. In 2013, Ms. Sallai participated in the Zoltán Kodály World Orchestra conducted by the renowned Hungarian pianist and conductor Tamás Vásáry. As an enthusiastic performer of chamber music, Ms. Sallai has collaborated with known artists such as Daniel Phillips, Laura Flax, Helena Bailie and the Da Capo chamber players. As part of a new music concert series at Bard College, called "Music Alive", she performed excerpts from Osvaldo Golijov`s Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind. As a high school student, Ms. Sallai won several prizes in international clarinet competitions in Italy, Slovenia and Hungary.

Born and raised in Hungary, Ms. Sallai began her musical studies at the age of eight and started to play the clarinet at the age of eleven. She is not only a determined clarinet player but also loves other art forms such as drawing and painting. Besides playing classical music, Ms. Sallai also enjoys performing klezmer and folk-style pieces and is the founding member of the Bard Klezmer Ensemble.
