Peter Dayeh is a classical clarinetist performing orchestral, chamber, and solo literature and maintains a private studio of beginning and advanced students. Mr. Dayeh is a native of San Diego, California and is a senior in the Bachelor of Music Performance program at San Diego State University. He is currently studying with internationally-acclaimed clarinetist Dr. Marian Liebowitz.
Mr. Dayeh is active as an orchestral and chamber musician throughout San Diego. Some positions include principal clarinetist of the San Diego State University symphony orchestra, principal clarinetist of the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra, and principal clarinetist of the San Diego City Ballet orchestra, with which he has performed for ballets such as Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” and Adam’s “Giselle.” Chamber music experience includes Eb clarinetist of “Woodworks,” the San Diego State University clarinet choir, clarinetist of “Ebony Fourest” clarinet quartet, solo clarinetist for clarinet quintets by Mozart and Brahms, and several other collaborations.
Mr. Dayeh has performed as both clarinetist and conductor with the San Diego Symphony. He was given the opportunity to play principal clarinet in a side-by-side concert featuring select members of the Civic Youth Orchestra, and in collaboration with San Diego State University, was given the opportunity to conduct the orchestra in a 2009 Summer Pops concert. Mr. Dayeh was recently a participant in the 2009 University of San Diego Chamber Music Festival. Mr. Dayeh has also won first prize in the woodwind/brass division at the Grossmont Community Concert Association scholarship competition, as well as winning the annual San Diego State University Soloist Competition. In the Summer of 2008, he was given the opportunity to participate in the annual Buffet-Crampon Summer Clarinet Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. The opportunity to participate is given, by audition only, to 20 clarinetists every year. Notable venues include Copley Symphony Hall, California center for performing arts in Escondido, Old Town Temecula Theater and Spreckels Theater in Downtown San Diego. Mr. Dayeh plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in clarinet performance and a career playing in a professional symphony orchestra. |
